I am a Dinosaur Mom

So I retired.  I MEAN I AM TIRED.  I  am  sleep hoar.  I recently read an article by a "mommy blogger".  She said  things like I can't wait for my kids to bed.... I can't spend time with them...Carpi Diem.  Well you know what, work from the time you are 14 years old and one day wake up  at 39 and walk your son to the bus.  (This is just my opinion and doesn't represent my blog or its owners.)  We all have things that have be come so trivial in life.  One time my friend Cheri said "Look at your babies and burn it in your brain".....and I was lucky enough to have some of those memories burned in my brain.  Last year I had to make the hardest decision of my life....which may sound trivial because it was just a job but, I had a blessing and a curse.  My sister Diane, who I believe is just a living angel.  She had just lost a baby.  When I went to Preston to she her, I saw a pain,  I don't remember seeing someone in that amount of pain.  I guess I am realizing how old I am and I think I appreciate being a mom more. I am much more present and feel very blessed.   I was talking to one of my best friends today....we discussed how hard it is to work and be a mom.  Some people can do both.  I don't think I could do it anymore.  So a shout out to the Mom's that have been around their kids 24/7and the patience that takes and a shout out to the moms that work and have kids and shout out to the one that don't have kids....  It is all good....One of my favorite quotes is, "There is no way to be a great mom, but a MILLION ways to be a good one."  I feel like I am a Dinosaur mom.  Sienna wanted a Dinosaur House not a doll house for Xmas,  I'm glad I get to see her enjoy it.

OK...the L is for Love

So, I was going to refuse to send out Christmas cards.....not because I don't like Christmas....I just feel like it has gone out of control on who has the cutest card.  Last year I had a brilliant idea, I would have each of my children and husband sign every card we send out like 100 of them...no pictures.  I should of just said "We are have brussle sprouts and spam for dinner for the rest of the year".... (feel free to substitute what foods you hate.......}  But I did it....Hell!!!! won't do that again.  So this year I was not going to send out any cards....  Well that lasted like...well one day.  Then I was thinking "I don't want to be that "@ss hole" that doesn't send out a card".  So they are not Christmas cards they are, "New Years Eve Cards".   See pic above.  Then I gave the cards to like 3 people and they were like "IS DEVIN GIVING THE LOOSER SIGN OVER YOU'R HEAD????"  Hey I am almost 40...and really crap, I don't even know if kids do that anymore.  I would of thought he could have come up with a better sign.  So at the end of the day it is a..... L FOR LOVE:}

My Nose doesn't know....

So Snoring runs in my family.  When we were kids it was embarrassing because my dad would go camping with the Boy Scouts and he would have his own tent away from everyone else and he would snore.  It scare the shit out of all the boy because they thought it was a grizzly bear....great.  So Both my children have had ear tubes.  Every time I go to the ENT with them, I tell the doctor I snore, can't breath and that I am really cool.  Well every time he says I have a crooked septum.  So cool 6 years later....I can't take it anymore I want to breath.  So DR. ENT - "It is so simple....we do the surgery on a Friday and BOOM your better on Monday".  So, I'm like...get this done!!!!

Definition of Septoplasty/Tubinoplasty......

So I don't like to read long things so I will keep it short....

A deviated septum is one that is displaced significantly and causes obstruction of air flow.....RELAXING CUTS ARE MADE IN THE REMAINING CARTILAGE to straighten the cartilage.  This is secured into position with sutures.....(and some how I also have stitches?) To reduce enlarged turbinates the underlying turbinate BONE IS CRUSHED.

WAIT DID I JUST READ CRUSHED?????    Overlying tissue is CAUTERIZED......IN SOME CASES (always) the nasal cavities are packed......

Oh then on Monday they take out the packing with half your brain.....   Well hope you enjoyed reading that. :}

Devin and my Doctor

I had surgery last week... 11.11.11.  I had a Septoplasty/Turbinoplasty....AKA, clearing out your nose and just messing with it so you can breath better. Dr....it will hurt for a couple of days....  ME- THIS HURTS LIKE HE!!.  So my nose is still bleeding.  Devin has been taking really good care of me, putting cold towels on my forehead.  Then last night he says, "mom i have a question",  because my nose is still bleeding, "What kid of doctor are we dealing with????? "  Love the kid!
